SHOTT In Elite Group To Showcase NZ Innovators at RWC

SHOTT has been selected as just one of 16 companies to showcase New Zealand food and beverage innovators at the Rugby World Cup.

Selected by NZ Trade & Enterprises, the NZ Food Innovation Showcase 2011 will demonstrate the best this country has to offer to both local and international visitors at the business end of the RWC, many of them influential opinion shapers and top business people.

The exhibition running from October 16-18 at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland, will be part of a SHOTT blitz to raise awareness of our products and brand during the RWC.  We will also have a stand at the Everywoman Expo at the Auckland Showgrounds from October 14-16 to be followed by the high profile Taste of Auckland show at the same venue from October 19-21.

SHOTT A Finalist Hutt Business Awards

SHOTT has been selected as a finalist in the manufacturing category of the 2011 Westpac Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce Business Awards. The winners will be announced in November.

SHOTT has again entered the Deloitte Fast 50 competition after last year winning the award as the fastest growing Wellington region manufacturer and placing 18th in the national rankings of fast growing companies.

W & M nab the big NAB

It’s always good to see Kiwis doing well overseas and architecture firm Warren and Mahoney is at it again, this time nabbing the contract to redesign the National Australia Bank (NAB) network of banks — all 760 of them. It'll be joined in its efforts by fellow Kiwi co-conspirators DNA.

It’s Hummer Time

With fuel prices sky rocketing, the petrol-guzzling Hummer’s days have been numbered  for some time now and, when GM announced last year it was closing its Hummer operations down, the fate of the vehicle was sealed. So what to do with all that clunky Hummer material? Rather than it wind up in a scrap metal yard somewhere, two architects from a Los Angeles-based firm have proposed a novel and yet very practical solution: turn them into houses, of course.

At a recent lecture in Auckland, founder of charitable organisation Architecture for Humanity Cameron Sinclair shared exactly how his organisation has grown from a one-man show to one with massive global outreach. He also offered some words of advice for the Christchurch rebuild.

New look, new era, and a pun revealed in Baypark rebrand

As it gets set to host the leather-clad man with the big voice and a penchant for very long songs, otherwise known as Meatloaf, the Bay of Plenty’s largest venue Baypark has unveiled a new branding effort that comes complete with a pun. The rebrand features a new and much more colourful logo carrying the newstrap line: ‘Where there’s plenty going on.’

Researchers delve into design behind Rome’s famed Pantheon

It may have been around for 2000 years, but in all that time the purpose behind the Pantheon’s unusual design has never quite been understood, until now perhaps.
